Don’t throw away your prize prom possession! Here are some great ideas for keeping your dress and the memories alive.
Whether you are relieved or heart broken, the end of Prom can be a big deal. We spent the whole year, if not most of our high school lives, dreaming of prom and having great expectations. When the night is finally over and the corsage has all but wilted, we are left wondering what to do with our most beloved possession: the dress. Although it can be hard to find another occasion to wear a princess style, bedazzled gown, here are some awesome ideas on what to do with the dress after the celebration!

Keep it for the Memories
As the years go on, you can always go to your closet and pull out your old prom dress. It will bring back a flood of joyful memories of fun, limo rides, dancing, and quality time with friends before the end of the year. When you’re feeling down, put it on and remember when you were a princess for a night.
Donate it to Charity
Just like you would donate your old jeans or shirts you’ve grown out of, why not donate your dress? There are hundreds of girls who can’t afford to buy new, expensive gowns for their prom. You can share your amazing night and help someone else have the prom of their dreams when you donate your dress. Just make sure you dry clean it before! No one wants to smell like a sweaty dancing queen on their prom night.
Alter the Dress
Maybe you really liked the neckline of your gown, but hated how long it was. You can reuse that dress with the help of an expert tailor to make your old prom dress into your new favorite cocktail dress. You’d be surprised what they can do! Keep all the stuff you loved like the cap sleeves, beading, and lace. Ditch the floor length, shoulder pads, or tulle underskirt. This is a great way to not only get more use out of your dress, but save money on buying a new one for your next formal event.
Halloween, Galas, and Parties - Oh My!
Let’s face it, you’re a party animal. Keep this dress when you might have a themed dance party to go to. Prom is a great theme for your next house party - or try zombie prom queen for next year’s halloween costume! With a dress as extravagant as your prom gown, there are endless ways to be creative at your next formal event.
